Controversy in United States
The principal controversy of Madonna in U.S. was her musical video American Life. In this video, relesead during the Iraq War (in 2003, exactly) showed horribles scenes of war, in opposition with american people to see laughing. Also, the letter of the song was very defiant with the war measures, imposed by the gobernment of this time.
The chorus of this song says exactly:
Do I have to change my name?
Will it get me far?
Should I lose some weight?
Am I gonna be a star?
Will it get me far?
Should I lose some weight?
Am I gonna be a star?
For this song, many people considered Madonna a not patriot woman. However, her fans considered this song like a new chaleng of the singer. Possibly, this controversy provoked she moved from U.S.A to London, U.K.
After the Controversy

In one of his fifteen song, Hung Up, the singer implemented the background of the popular song of ABBA, Gimme Gimme Gimme.
For this recording work, Madonna recovered her career, leaving behind the controversy of her previous disc.
2 years later, Madonna released other record, entitled Hard Candy, which incorpored R&B and Hip Hop rhytms. In these new songs, Madonna included the participation of famous singers of this musical genre, like Justin Timberlake and Pharrel Williams.
However, the singer had problems withs her record producer, Warner, from to many years ago. To leave it, the contrat provided that the singers shoulded to release a recovery disc.
